SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST is one the emerging causes of death in adults in Nigeria. It can happen anytime, anywhere, to anyone. Our loved ones are no exception
CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION ( CPR ) , when properly administered, increases the chances of survival of a person that has sudden cardiac arrest by about 50%.
Over 75% of sudden cardiac arrests take place outside of hospital environments.
About 60% of deaths from sudden cardiac arrest occur before the victim reaches a hospital. Many of these deaths can be prevented if the victim receives immediate HELP. If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. Immediate CPR can double, or even triple, a victim’s chance of survival.
Brain death occurs within 4 – 6 minutes after the heart stops beating.
Knowing and administering CPR is key to saving life from sudden cardiac arrest.
